Wistron's Strategies and Commitments in Climate Change-Related Public Policy

Wistron proactively addresses global climate change by supporting principles consistent with the Paris Agreement and making sustainable development a core strategy. To demonstrate our commitment to both domestic and international climate policies, we actively comply with and support relevant regulations at all Wistron operational sites. These include the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Taiwan’s Climate Change Response Act and Renewable Energy Development Act, China’s National Carbon Emissions Trading System (ETS), and Mexico’s General Law on Climate Change, among others.

Wistron successfully passed the Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) review of its science-based targets (SBT) in April 2024. This aligns with the Paris Agreement's goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C by the end of this century. We commit to achieving carbon neutrality in Wistron's operations by 2030 and net-zero emissions for the value chain by 2050.

In response to global carbon pricing mechanisms, such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Taiwan’s Climate Change Response Act, the company has implemented internal carbon pricing measures and will initiate the implementation and establishment of relevant calculation rules and operational mechanisms starting in 2024. Wistron will develop a digital management platform to automate the calculations of carbon emissions and carbon fees. It will enable business unit leaders to monitor decarbonization performance at each site and support the company’s pathway to achieve its 2050 net-zero target.

The company continuously monitors global and local regulatory developments, proactively adjusts management strategies, strengthens risk management, and enhances sustainability competitiveness.

Through collaboration with these organizations, Wistron stays informed of the latest international trends and developments, supporting the company’s ongoing growth and progress.
