On May 17, 2024, Wistron's Hsinchu site achieved a significant milestone by receiving the highest-level Platinum UL2799 Zero Waste to Landfill certification. This accomplishment underscores our commitment to the "Environmental Protection Policy" and marks a new milestone in our journey toward resource sustainability.
The cornerstone of this achievement is the establishment of a comprehensive waste classification management system within the site. We have defined standardized processes and implemented staff training. By categorizing waste into nine major areas and nine types, we have improved sorting and recycling, thereby reducing incineration. Monthly audits and evaluations are conducted, with management providing rewards to encourage continuous improvement.
Furthermore, we have implemented source reduction initiatives to minimize waste, focusing on internal management, parameter optimization, equipment upgrades, and comprehensive optimization of organic solvent management. These efforts have resulted in a 61.3% reduction in total solvent usage, a 66.7% reduction in solvent usage per unit product, and a 45.3% reduction in waste effluent in 2023. Our influence extends along the value chain, where we promote waste reduction measures and advocate for recyclable packaging design to minimize environmental impact. For example, we optimize packaging for inbound and outbound shipments, making our customers and suppliers partners in achieving a circular economy.

Additionally, we have extended our management expertise to waste treatment vendors, converting non-combustible hazardous waste into electricity, validated by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs with a self-use electricity generation certificate (Certificate No. 11200032140). This aligns with our zero waste goal.
