Wistron has consistently garnered recognition for its commitment to sustainable technological innovation. In 2023, the company once again received multiple accolades at the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA). In addition to the highest honor, the "Taiwan's Top 10 Sustainable Model Enterprises Award (Manufacturing Sector)," Wistron also achieved recognition in various categories, including the "Sustainability Report Award: Electronic Information Products Manufacturing - Category 1 Platinum Level," "Innovative Growth Leadership Award," "Information Security Leadership Award," "Circular Economy Leadership Award," and "Transparency & Integrity Leadership Award," totaling six awards and setting a new record for the company's achievements over the years.

Wistron firmly believes that "sustainability" is a responsibility that must be embraced in the present and future. Only by integrating the concept of "sustainability through innovation" into corporate culture can a more resilient operational framework be developed. We focus on environment, social, governance, and innovation (abbreviated as ESGI) as the pillars of sustainable development, shaping six sustainability strategies: "Sustainable supply base," "Green Product," "Recycling," "Decarbonization," "People with purpose," and "Labor welfare". In addition to setting clear short, medium, and long-term goals, we regularly track and review our progress. We strive to translate our vision and actions into daily operations, leading the way towards a sustainable future.

Sustainability Performance and Highlights of 2022

[Environment] Toward Carbon Neutrality by 2030
In response to global climate change and to align with the Paris Agreement, Wistron officially submitted its Science-Based Targets" in 2023. The goal is to limit global warming to within 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, as outlined in the agreement. The company has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, gradually implementing the transition to low-carbon manufacturing. Wistron actively discloses climate information and demonstrates its commitment to climate action, earning recognition from the international non-profit organization CDP. In 2022, the company, having been included in the Climate Change Questionnaire for the first time, achieved the highest rating of "A List" for its performance.

[Social] Collaborates with employees to create a better life
In 2022, Wistron's total social investment amounted to approximately 250 million New Taiwan Dollars. In addition to leveraging existing philanthropic efforts, the company actively focuses on the humanities and environmental sectors. Wistron established the Wistron Accelerator and GOLF (Gap of Learning and Field), combining industry, government, academia, and research to cultivate innovative and technological talents. The company is dedicated to using its technological advantages to create applications for smart living, thereby improving social welfare.

Simultaneously, Wistron collaborates with employees and professional partners in long-term efforts focused on environmental and ecological conservation. Wistron volunteers utilize work holidays to assist in clearing invasive species, replanting, and establishing shelter areas to restore habitats. Through hands-on participation, employees witness the value of sustainability, leading to a greater understanding and endorsement of the company's development goals.

[Governance] Driving digital transformation and sustainable development
We are actively engaged in digital transformation, leveraging digital technology to realize our sustainable vision. Internally, we have established a "Digital Technology Empowerment Platform" and a "Digital Talent Empowerment Academy," creating digital infrastructure in various operational areas to enhance employees' proficiency in emerging technologies. To date, Wistron has successfully empowered innovation across various operational aspects, including smart manufacturing, energy conservation and carbon reduction, sustainable supply chain management, green product innovation, and human capital development. This has generated additional value and deepened the company's sustainable resilience.

Wistron's Kunshan and Zhongshan plants were included in "global lighthouse network" by the World Economic Forum in 2021 and 2023, respectively, acknowledging our exemplary practices in embracing advanced technologies for manufacturing and sustainability.

[Innovation] Investment in the strategic technologies and startups
As we enter the third decade, Wistron recognizes the imperative of continuous innovation and adaptability to confront new opportunities and challenges. In 2022, the company invested over 25 billion NT dollars in innovative research and development. Among these investments, the establishment of a lithium battery recycling production line addresses global environmental concerns related to battery production and recycling. It has become a new driving force for the company's development in the circular economy.

As a leading global manufacturer and service provider for computers and peripherals, Wistron's business model goes beyond producing green products. The company offers services such as electronic waste recycling and reuse and has a worldwide customer service network. This approach establishes a pioneering "closed-loop recycling solution" in the industry. Wistron implements a cradle-to-cradle circular economy model, covering aspects from product research and development, manufacturing, after-sales service to recycling and reuse. The company's overall innovation capability has earned the honor of being listed among the "Top 100 Global Innovators" by Clarivate for two consecutive years.

Throughout its journey, Wistron adheres to a philosophy of "altruism" by achieving a balance among various stakeholders and expanding its range to include environmental and social aspects. Upholding its vision, Wistron will continue to collaborate with partners, leading the value chain to propagate sustainable impact.
