A Walk toward Sustainability: Solar-Powered Corridor in Vietnam

For employees at Wistron Vietnam, the simple act of commuting — walking the 50-meter stretch from the factory entrance to the parking lot — often meant braving intense sunlight or unexpected downpours. These everyday inconveniences, voiced by frontline employees, prompted the company to reflect deeply on how it could create a more comfortable and supportive commuting experience. 



Embracing a people-centric philosophy and ESG sustainability strategies, Wistron launched an innovative and empathetic initiative: the construction of a solar-powered walkway. More than just a weather shelter, the walkway represents a tangible expression of the company’s long-term commitment to both employee well-being and sustainable development. Spanning the route between the factory gate and the parking area, the walkway features a clean, sturdy design topped with solar panels. These panels absorb sunlight throughout the day and convert it into renewable energy to power nighttime lighting and basic electricity needs. This dual-purpose solution not only ensures that employees can commute safely and comfortably in all weather conditions, but also significantly reduces the site’s reliance on traditional energy sources — directly contributing to Wistron’s energy conservation and carbon reduction goals.
