Wistron Chengdu and Chongqing Sites- Planting for a Greener Future

SDGs

Planting a Peach Tree, Growing a Commitment to the Land and Future Generations

As the world advances toward net-zero emissions and promotes green development, sustainability has become more than a vision—it is a shared responsibility for businesses and society alike. Guided by its commitment to the environment and future generations, Wistron launched the “Planting for a Greener Future” tree-planting initiative during Arbor Day. Together with its partners, the company planted 250 peach trees within the park, transforming sustainability from an idea into tangible action. By integrating ecological conservation, community engagement, and local development, each tree represents a commitment that extends far beyond growth itself.

The land that is now beginning to flourish with new greenery was once an unused hillside, where strong winds stirred up dust and rainfall turned the ground into mud. Faced with these environmental challenges, action proved more meaningful than observation. Through this tree-planting initiative, Wistron responded directly to the needs of the land, contributing to environmental restoration through long-term investment and demonstrating its commitment to carbon reduction and ecological sustainability. What was planted was not only a young tree, but also a promise of respect and stewardship for the natural environment.

The 250-tree peach grove represents not only visible greenery but also measurable environmental value. As a locally adaptable economic tree species, peach trees provide multiple ecological benefits. A mature peach tree can absorb approximately 15 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually, and once the grove reaches maturity, the total annual carbon sequestration capacity is estimated to reach 3,750 kilograms, supporting both corporate carbon-reduction efforts and regional carbon management goals. Their deep root systems help improve soil stability, retain water, and enhance soil quality. During spring, blooming peach blossoms attract bees and butterflies, gradually fostering a thriving local ecosystem. As the grove matures, it will also help regulate the microclimate and improve air quality, becoming a valuable green asset within the surrounding landscape.

As the peach grove continues to grow, it is expected to evolve into an ecological destination where visitors can admire peach blossoms in spring and harvest fresh peaches in summer. In this way, sustainability will extend beyond environmental metrics and become part of everyday life, cultural experiences, and environmental education. The project aims to create a sustainable space that combines ecological value with local economic development, bringing new vitality and opportunities to the community.

Spring nurtures new life, and greenery spreads across the landscape. The 250 peach trees taking root and reaching toward the sky symbolize more than the success of a tree-planting event—they embody Wistron’s commitment to ESG principles and its long-term pledge to the land, society, and future generations.

Looking ahead, Wistron will continue to strengthen its sustainability efforts with environmental stewardship as its foundation, social responsibility as its focus, and strong governance as its support. Through ongoing environmental initiatives, the company aims to cultivate positive outcomes for nature, communities, and quality of life. By continuing to put sustainability into action, Wistron remains committed to creating lasting value and ensuring that a greener future becomes an integral part of everyday life.
