Three Years of Commitment, Every Step Toward a Safer Workplace: Wistron Malaysia Receives the Nation's Highest Occupational Safety and Health Honor

For many companies, safety is a management system. For Wistron Malaysia (WMY), however, safety is a commitment that is put into practice every day in the workplace.
On October 17, 2025, WMY was invited to attend the 2024 National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH) Awards Dinner in Malaysia, where it received a prestigious award in the field of occupational safety and health. WMY was also the only recipient in the Electrical and Electronics Industry category. This recognition represents more than a trophy—it is a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of employees across the organization over the years.
This achievement did not happen overnight. Since 2022, WMY has participated in the NCOSH awards for three consecutive years, using each assessment and feedback opportunity to drive continuous improvement. Through the gradual strengthening of safety management systems, implementation of risk prevention measures, and integration of safety awareness into daily operations and workplace culture, WMY steadily elevated its performance. After three years of persistence and improvement, these efforts were recognized in the 2024 awards program.
At the award ceremony, WMY was represented by General Manager Mr. Kenny Liang and Plant Manager Mr. Charles Leu, who received the trophy and certificate from Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Dato’ Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad. While the two leaders accepted the award on stage, the honor belongs to every employee who prioritizes safety, follows established procedures, and actively contributes to workplace improvements, as well as to the management team and EHS professionals who have continuously supported these efforts.
The achievement was also featured by Malaysia’s national broadcaster, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), helping raise public awareness of occupational safety and health. Through broader media exposure, WMY’s efforts demonstrate how sustained commitment and practical action can create a safer and healthier working environment for employees.
The value of occupational safety and health management extends beyond the factory floor. By fostering a strong safety culture, companies can not only reduce workplace risks and protect employee well-being, but also share best practices with industry peers and partners, contributing to higher safety standards across the sector. Every risk assessment, training session, and workplace improvement initiative ultimately helps protect employees, their families, and the communities connected to them.
This recognition also supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through the promotion of employee health and safety; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by creating a safe and supportive workplace; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through strengthened industrial management practices; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by fostering safer environments for both employees and surrounding communities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration with government agencies and social partners to promote a culture of safety.
