Wistron’s Science-Based Climate Action Receives Continued International Recognition

2026.01.23
News

January 2026 marks a historic milestone in global corporate climate action. The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has announced that the number of companies with validated science-based targets has officially surpassed 10,000. This achievement not only demonstrates the deepening of corporate climate action but also sends a clear message: science-based climate action is accelerating to become the mainstream of business operations. As a member of this global cohort, Wistron Corporation highly affirms this significant milestone and reaffirms its strong commitment to working alongside global enterprises toward a net-zero future.

Wistron’s science-based targets (SBT) were officially validated by the SBTi in 2024, aligning the Company with the 1.5°C pathway outlined in the Paris Agreement. By establishing concrete, measurable, and traceable targets, Wistron is gradually integrating climate governance into its daily operations and value chain management. To fulfill its net-zero commitment, Wistron has defined the following decarbonization goals based on a 2022 base year:

  • Near-term (by 2030): Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90%, and reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions (from purchased goods and services and the use of sold products) by 25%.
  • Long-term (2030-2050): Maintain a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions from the base year of 2022 and achieve a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions.

To ensure effective implementation, Wistron is driving transformation across three strategic areas: Smart Operation, Decarbonization, and Circulatory. Key actions include deploying an internal Decarbonization Management Platform to strengthen carbon management across global operations, expanding the adoption of low-carbon processes and renewable energy, and collaborating with suppliers through the WiZero (Wistron Zero Carbon Emission) initiative to build a low-carbon and resilient supply chain. These efforts translate science-based targets into executable and trackable management mechanisms.

As the SBTi announces that over 10,000 companies globally have now been validated, corporate climate action is entering a more mature and institutionalized phase. We sincerely congratulate all corporate partners who have achieved SBTi validation — the climate leaders, net-zero innovators, and changemakers. Upholding the vision of “Sustainability through Innovation,” Wistron remains steadfast in following the 1.5°C decarbonization pathway. We will continue to respond to climate challenges with action, creating real change for a sustainable future.
