With the excellent performance as we predicted in the 2020 "Rising Stars: The Next Top 100 Innovative Institutions" report, Wistron was selected as the world's top 100 innovative institutions for the first time this year.”
Simon Lin, the Chairman of Wistron, said: "Sustainability through Innovation is Wistron's vision for the next 20 years. In order to create a beautiful life in which human beings and the environment co-prosper in harmony, Wistron aims to be a trustworthy and sustainable technological innovative partner for customers and relevant stakeholders. In the past few years, Wistron has not only continued to expand its investment in cutting-edge R&D technology, but also encouraged team research and development competitions, curation, targeted brainstorming projects, invention proposal review/seminar, and patent analytics on big data/technology, etc. to shape the corporate innovation culture, and actively cultivate internal and external R&D teams and technologies to create more innovations.
For the 11th time this year, Clarivate's Top 100 Global Innovators has selected the world's top innovators based on patent analytics. Clarivate first identifies innovative institutions with the qualifications based on the number of patents, and evaluates global innovation institutions based on indicators such as the level of influence and degree of internationalization of patent portfolios. Since this year, "Successful Footprint" and "Technical Uniqueness" have been added, and the selection criteria are based on the GDP of the market where the patent is granted and the uniqueness of the technological portfolio.
In terms of patent strategy, Wistron establishes, accumulates, maintains, and manages a more futuristic IP Portfolio with a sound "Intellectual Property Management Policy", which contains a strong global patent portfolio with patent layouts in Asia and Europe, North America and other regions. The technology coverage has expanded to include healthcare, augmented/virtual reality and other metaverse applications, self-driving and electric vehicles, smart in-vehicle systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, advanced communications and networking, automation i4.0, and other emerging technologies. Looking into the future, Wistron will continue to encourage independent R&D and innovation, maintain the scale of patent portfolios, expand the scope of technologies, improve patent quality, and promote patent activation in order to optimize patent operations and patent portfolios as well as maximize value and benefit.
