Wistron Malaysia Site Promoting Social Inclusion, Enhancing Cross-Cultural Communication and Employee Well-Being

SDGs

WMY provides comprehensive support for foreign workers transitioning to Malaysia, reflecting its commitment to Environmental, Social, Governance, and Inclusion (ESGI) principles, with a focus on Social Inclusion. This initiative aims to alleviate financial and psychological burdens while promoting responsible recruitment practices.

To support foreign workers, WMY covers recruitment fees and initial living expenses, reducing the financial strain of relocation. This approach discourages exploitation by unethical recruiters and aligns with the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct, ensuring ethical and transparent hiring processes. By addressing these financial challenges, WMY helps ease the transition for its foreign workforce.

Beyond financial aid, WMY promotes social integration to help foreign workers adapt to Malaysia. The company organizes cultural events, such as pop-up celebrations during Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, which involve all nationalities of employees. These events encourage foreign workers to engage with local culture, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.

WMY also facilitates communication and understanding through "Project Rasa Sayang," a regular employee committee meeting where workers from different backgrounds can voice concerns and share experiences. This initiative promotes open dialogue and strengthens social cohesion within the workforce, ensuring all employees feel heard and valued.

Additionally, WMY provides practical resources to help foreign workers integrate. The company offers language books to assist workers in learning local languages for daily communication. Key documents, such as handbooks, the Code of Conduct, and training materials, are also translated into workers' native languages, ensuring clarity, and understanding.

To further build a sense of community, WMY hosts events like department family days, annual dinners, and lucky draws, where employees of all nationalities come together to celebrate and bond. These activities foster cross-cultural connections and create an inclusive work environment.

In summary, WMY’s focus on financial support, cultural integration, and social inclusion reflects its ESGI commitment. By helping foreign workers adapt and thrive, WMY fosters a welcoming, inclusive workplace where all employees feel supported.
